Why do I want to play Roller Derby?

Why wouldn’t you? We’re a group of Croydon’s finest athletes who have come together in the name of Roller Derby. We train hard, skate hard and have a lot of fun doing it.

If you’re interested in playing one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and joining one of the top 20 teams in Europe then contact us at recruitment@croydonrollerderby.co.uk.

I’m new to Roller Derby. How do I join?

Thinking of learning to play Roller Derby? We’re always on the hunt for new skaters, refs and NSO’s. We run new Rookie intakes a couple times a year so make sure to contact us and book a slot.

The Rookie program will teach you all you’ll need to know to pass your WFTDA minimum skills and begin to learn how to play Roller Derby.

Simply contact us at our recruitment email to book your place on the course.

I’ve already got some Roller Derby experience. Can I join?

Absolutely! As a growing league with an A and B team we welcome anyone with previous Roller Derby experience to help this young and exciting league grow even further! Simply contact us at our recruitment email or our information email if you want to enquire further.

I’m a man, can I still take part somehow?

You sure can! While you obviously can’t be a Roller Girl, we are always on the lookout for referees or NSO’s (Non-Skating Officials) to help with enforce the rules and take part in training sessions. You can still enquire about joining through either the recruitment form or by contacting us through our recruitment email.

What kit will i need?

The basic equipment you will need is as follows:

Skate Helmet
Quad Skates
Knee Pads
Wrist Guards
Elbow Pads
Gum Shield

The most expensive – and essential – item (besides your helmet) will be your skates, which will range from £50 anywhere up into the range of £250. If you’re just starting out, then you won’t need the most expensive skates at first, but as you become more confident and more skilled, then you’ll certainly benefit from better skates.

How often do you train?

Our training schedule is currently as follows:

Rookie Training

Fridays- 19.00 – 21.00

Vice Squad Training

Wednesdays – 20.00 – 21.00

Sundays - 12.00 – 14.00

Riot Squad Training

Wednesdays – 21.00 – 22.00

Sundays – 14.00 – 17.00
